Erin Condren Officially Announces Acquisition of kikki.K Brand

EC Design, the parent company of Erin Condren, has officially announced the acquisition of the kikki.K brand. The acquisition was finalized on July 30, 2020 and both companies are working diligently through a smooth restructuring process that with hopefully save nearly 30 kikki.K stores worldwide and roughly 250 jobs.

The kikki.K brand, which had filed for voluntary administration (bankruptcy) four months ago, was negatively impacted by some devastating economic disasters that hurt their business around the world. Under the new structure, the company will remain in its Melbourne, Australia headquarters with Founder, Kristina Karlsson as Creative Director and Co- Founder, Paul Lacy as CEO.  kikki.K shared the good news with their more than 300K followers on Instagram by expressing their gratitude for patience during this transitional time and that their future is secure and moving forward.

According to Kristina Karlsson, “With this partnership, the Erin Condren team will assist us in strengthening the kikki.K brand across the U.S. markets and help grow our e-commerce business. There is so much we can learn from each other to continue doing what we both do best, and that’s creating and sharing beautiful products that make a genuine positive impact on people’s lives.”

“We have long admired kikki.K for its unique design and functional products, and we are thrilled to welcome this incredible team into the EC Design family. The beautiful Swedish design aesthetic that is signature to the kikki.K brand will remain and will now be more readily accessible to U.S. audiences,” says Tonia Misvaer, CEO of Erin Condren.

It will be exciting to see what comes next as these two paper pioneer brands come together. Overall, the brands hope to combine their shared love for paper, planners, stationery and organization to deliver the best products to their customers.

Maybe we will see an A5 ring bound EC planner soon??

These days it has become more important than ever to be an advocate for yourself and your family members when it comes to health. Knowing your body, tracking symptoms and staying on top of your history can be a vital asset in your treatment and diagnosis.  Now, Whitney English has partnered with Johna Jenkins, a nurse practitioner, to develop a comprehensive collection of products called A Plan For Health that empower you to take charge of your own wellness.

A Plan For Health is a collection of wellness planning products that helps you keep your most important information organized all in one place. The collection includes a Daily Wellness Tracker, five small (A5) but powerful notebook tools and a notepad that can really make a difference in your overall wellness.

This notebook keeps all vital information in one place and can be essential in emergency situations when you or a family member cannot speak for themselves. Health Care Visits – A convenient way to prep for appointments with your doctor, therapist or specialist. It allows you to pre-plan questions and record symptoms or concerns plus take notes of instructions, recommendations, treatments, diagnosis and follow ups.  There is also a place to log medication prescribed and test taken.

Weekly Tracker – A useful notebook that works as a companion with other trackers to get a quick visual overview of how often symptoms are occurring or how consistent you are with taking medications, supplements and getting enough exercise and water. It can also be a handy tool in your regular daily planning.

Notepad – A convenient notepad with adhesive sticky pages to jot down quick thoughts or lists that can be put into any of the notebooks or your regular planner.

All of the products are beautifully designed and provide a full approach to healthcare. The colors and patterns work aesthetically with the Whitney English Planner and the notebooks fit conveniently into the front pocket.

Behind The Shop: PenGems

Behind The Shop: PenGems

This behind-the-shop post is from our interview with Kristina Gilliam, Director of Operations at PenGems during the NYC Planner Addicts Expo, a virtual event for ticket holders held on July 18, 2020.

PenGems, known as the sparkly pens with the gem on the top, are a popular favorite throughout the planner community.  The company was founded by Angel McMichael, who served 12 years active duty for the US Air Force and now serves in the Air Force Reserve. She started out making the crystal pens from home but today the company has grown into a small team that is on a mission to make the world a colorful place with #nouglypens. Pippin is the adorable penguin ambassador which represents the brand’s fun and “chill” personality.

PenGems releases new collections monthly which are usually in the works for months and sometimes a year in advance. Angel is the designer and finds inspiration from many areas but also welcomes feedback from the team and community. The pens are released in boxed set collections, many of which sell out in one day, but can also be purchased individually on the website. Additionally, there is a Signature Collection that includes popular pens which are always in stock. Each pen is filled with more than 120 sparkling crystals and features coordinating metal barrels, hardware and gemstones. They have 0.7mm black ballpoint cartridges which have a very smooth feel and glide when writing. There are also several options for refill cartridges including blue ink and gel ink.

The company has done several designer collaborations within the community including Peach Pom, Scribble Prints Co., Plan It Perfect, the1407planners and Pippin Loves Fiona.

Some of the collections are released with coordinating products like notebooks, which are produced with their sister company, Einstein Paper Company. PenGems also has fun apparel and accessories that features the brands signature colors and Pippin the penguin ambassador.

Starting from their small but mighty team, PenGems focuses on giving back. The company is based in a small town in Texas and employs women from the local community.  They have done several give back initiatives through their Sparkle For A Cause pens that have helped raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness, foster children and more. There is also a licensed collection with the US Air Force.

Thank you so much to PenGems for the live interview. We are so excited for what is coming this fall and the new Halloween Collection! For the latest information about releases and more, follow PenGems on Instagram and Facebook.

Reasons To Add Daily Planning To Your Line Up

Reasons To Add Daily Planning To Your Line Up

Daily planners seem to be popping up in everyone’s planner stack right now.  Maybe it’s the gorgeous variety of options from bound planners to undated inserts that have enticed so many planners to give the daily layout a try. Plus, this season of uncertainly really lends itself to taking things day by day and a daily planner is the perfect solution.  It can be used alone or alongside your regular planner.

For a long time, most people felt that their schedules just weren’t busy enough to warrant using a daily planner. But in fact, those that have given it a try are so glad they did.  Daily planning really has less to do with how jam packed your schedule is and more to do with boosting your productivity and even helping to reduce stress.

Here are some reasons to make daily planning a part of your line up:

Daily Brain Dump

A daily brain dump is one of the best things you can do to clear your head and relieve stress.  Making a plan for the day is a great way to set yourself up for success.  A daily planner provides plenty of space to put pen to paper and flush out priorities, thoughts and notes.  It is also helpful for assigning time (blocks) to when you are going to be getting tasks done which prevents over scheduling.

Putting Routines In Place

Routines are one of the best ways to help you achieve your goals and be productive. But incorporating them into your life can be a struggle. Sometimes we want to procrastinate, sometimes we just rebel and sometimes we just forget. Having that same daily reminder or ritual visible everyday makes it easier to establish routines and keep them going, whatever that means for you.

Increase Productivity & Decrease Overwhelm

We all love that sense of accomplishment that comes with checking things off! Not only does this make us feel like we are making progress but it also helps to maintain momentum and boost productivity.  Visually seeing all the things that you have been able to complete gives you confidence to keep going.  Plus if you are a lister, pulling a few tasks daily can help prioritize what’s most important and keep you laser focused rather than having a master list that can be overwhelming.

Stay On Top Of Goals & Progress

Goals can seem like an unattainable finish line far down the road. Many times we set goals and think to ourselves – “it would be nice to”. That is why breaking them down into mini steps and milestones can make sure you are consistently staying focused and making progress.  These steps can be spread out into daily actionable items so they are more attainable and easy to manage.

A daily planner also gives you a fresh start to a new day. Of course you can try to do all of this in a regular notebook but having more “structure” can only help keep you on track and accountable.
