EC Design, the parent company of Erin Condren, has officially announced the acquisition of the kikki.K brand. The acquisition was finalized on July 30, 2020 and both companies are working diligently through a smooth restructuring process that with hopefully save nearly 30 kikki.K stores worldwide and roughly 250 jobs.
The kikki.K brand, which had filed for voluntary administration (bankruptcy) four months ago, was negatively impacted by some devastating economic disasters that hurt their business around the world. Under the new structure, the company will remain in its Melbourne, Australia headquarters with Founder, Kristina Karlsson as Creative Director and Co- Founder, Paul Lacy as CEO. kikki.K shared the good news with their more than 300K followers on Instagram by expressing their gratitude for patience during this transitional time and that their future is secure and moving forward.
According to Kristina Karlsson, “With this partnership, the Erin Condren team will assist us in strengthening the kikki.K brand across the U.S. markets and help grow our e-commerce business. There is so much we can learn from each other to continue doing what we both do best, and that’s creating and sharing beautiful products that make a genuine positive impact on people’s lives.”
“We have long admired kikki.K for its unique design and functional products, and we are thrilled to welcome this incredible team into the EC Design family. The beautiful Swedish design aesthetic that is signature to the kikki.K brand will remain and will now be more readily accessible to U.S. audiences,” says Tonia Misvaer, CEO of Erin Condren.
It will be exciting to see what comes next as these two paper pioneer brands come together. Overall, the brands hope to combine their shared love for paper, planners, stationery and organization to deliver the best products to their customers.
Maybe we will see an A5 ring bound EC planner soon??
