New “Cash Stash” Activity Book - Interview With Plan With Ilysse

As we move forward into the new year, many of us will be setting goals or resolutions to save more money, pay down debt and improve overall financial wellness. But like many goals, financial goals often fall by the waist side or become too overwhelming to achieve. Now there's an exciting new book to help you stay on track, save more money and have fun doing it.

The brand new Cash Stash Activity Book, written by Ilysse Ratner, is filled with practical savings challenges that make saving money feel less like a chore and easier to accomplish. The workbook style guides you through 75 interactive activities or challenges designed to make little by little progress towards saving goals ranging from $50 up to $10,000.

“The key to success with savings challenges is to spend what's left after saving, not save what’s left after spending.”

Author Ilysse Ratner is a planner, avid budgeter and goal setter. After paying off her own debt, she began helping others set and achieve their financial goals with advice, insights and of course challenges.  In addition to her full time job, Ilysse is a content creator found on various social media platforms sharing her personal planning and financial journey with her community.

We chatted with Ilysse all about the new book, her journey and the exciting ways saving money can be achieved one challenge at a time.

THE POWER OF CASH STASHING

The idea of using cash makes spending and saving money more intentional and easier to track. The physical act of allocating actual cash also helps curb impulse spending as opposed to swiping a card or clicking a button online. However, the book also guides you through how to save money without using actual cash by setting up separate designated bank accounts for savings.

WHY SAVINGS CHALLENGES

Savings challenges are an easy to follow visual habit that works. Once you get in the routine of setting aside money and tracking it, momentum will build from there. Saving money becomes a rewarding journey towards financial success that can help you take charge of your finances.  The challenges in the book  help you identify specific goals with specific amounts and deadlines. They also help keep you motivated by coloring in each activity along the way.

WHAT KIND OF SPENDER ARE YOU?

Inside the book, you can take a quick personality quiz to help you learn more about your spending and saving lifestyle. Once you determine your type, the results will help you choose the best challenges to start with. There are no hard lines when it comes to your types so feel free to explore all the challenges in the book but be careful not to take on too many at once.

The Cash Stash Activity Book has a user-friendly design with perforated pages that are easy to tear out and insert into your planner or hang on the fridge or above your desk. The book also contains other helpful financial resources as well as a fun 100 envelope challenge. The book is available for pre-order now and will be available in stores, including Walmart, Target and Barnes & Noble and online wherever books are sold on November 26th.
