We are so excited to share our next “Planner-preneur” with you!  In this ongoing series, we share an inside look at people from our community that have poured all their creativity and inspiration into a “planner-related” entrepreneurial venture. This time, we are talking to Heather Harris from Copper Bottom Design Co.

Heather is not like other typical planner entrepreneurs. That’s because she actually does not have a planner brand of her own. She is the Founder and President of Copper Bottom Design Co, a boutique design company that specializes in helping other brands design and manufacture their own planners and paper products. With more than 19 years experience under her sails, Heather knows a thing or two about creating quality and profitable planners, stationery products and all the fun accessories that go with them. 

Back in 2003, Heather decided to leave her corporate job in New York City and take a job closer to home in a design company (Graphic Image) specializing in print production. As an avid planner and paper lover, this was a perfect match and the beginning of her production journey working on in-house brands, luxury brands and a brand called, MomAgenda.  After moving on to a new position, taking MomAgenda as a freelance client, Heather really expanded her knowledge and contacts in overseas manufacturing while working for a children’s book publishing house. 

Then one day, while pursuing opportunities for her own brand, Heather answered a question about overseas manufacturing in a FaceBook group and dozens of inquiries followed. She quickly realized she had a valuable skill that could help others design and manufacture their own paper products and decided to start her own company.

All it takes is an idea! Heather and her team have helped create countless products that are functional, aesthetically beautiful and on brand for dozens of well known planner brands we all love. From navigating the design process to production timelines to manufacturing management to shipping and more, the team is invested in the business of their clients. Beyond the production process, Heather and her team also work closely with clients to define a clear brand vision, explore product expansion, determine sales predictions and order quantities just to name a few things.
