Behind The Shop - Shameless Stickers
Behind The Shop is an ongoing series that features our talented and devoted shop owner community. Each time, we talk one-on-one with a shop owner/s to hear first hand what shop life is all about. Whether it’s a new shop that just came onto the scene or a popular community favorite – we want to share more about their journeys and stories with you.
One day in 2017, Chaz Jorgensen was jammin’ with her bestie having a planner/crafting sesh when she had the idea to make her own stickers. She wanted to create the stickers she wanted in her planner but couldn’t find. With a background in art and tattoo work, Chaz began designing and developed her signature Shameless style, popular with so many in the planner community. Now four years later, her Etsy shop Shameless Stickers, makes thousands of stickers a year for people to put in their planners.
Finding inspiration in music lyrics, poetry and pop culture, her goal is to make stickers for real life. Known for her snarky phrases and quotes as well as other signature items like the popular Splashes, Furry Sacks and more, Chaz has found a way to make decorating your planner fun and filled with memories.
We spoke to Chaz all about her business journey, what she loves about planning and creating stickers as well working with her team. Listen to our chat below:
“AIN’T NO SHAME IN MY PLANNER GAME”
For Chaz, planning is a lot like the music that inspires her. Both bring people together, help make memories and create connections. Lyrics have always been a powerful influence in her creative process because of their power to bring back special moments of life. That’s why she enjoys incorporating them in a variety of ways throughout the shop and products.
Splashes are another signature part of Shameless and are released monthly in limited bundles. Basically, if you know you know. These decorative yet functional strokes of color, that Chaz said were created almost on accident when she was trying to cover up a mishap in her own planner, have become a favorite among shop fans. Each month she designs a new, exclusive color palette to be released. Using color inspiration from the seasons with variations in tone and texture, each Splash is totally unique. The latest September bundle features a fun color palette of traditional Fall and Halloween colors like orange, purple, line green and black.
Splash bundles are not the only thing coming this month. There is also a four day release event called, “A Very Shameless Halloween”to get your planners ready for season. It’s the first time the Halloween collection will be released for a limited time, instead of for the month. Included in the release are two sticker kits (Casper and Mom-bie), a Here Comes Halloween sampler sheet, fun die cuts, teeny tiny sheets (Wednesday Adams, Bettlejuice, Hocus Pocus and more), special Splashes plus a Cruella kit collab with Tori Artis.
IT’S ALL IN THE FAMILY
At Shameless Stickers, work is very much a family affair. In fact her mother-in-law (aka Mama), is the women behind another signature Shameless product – the Furry Sacks. First created for Chaz as a planner pouch, Furry Sacks are sewn from the softest “furry” material that feels absolutely amazing to the touch. They have become super popular and are now available on a limited basis in a variety of unique colors and sizes. In fact, this month the new XL size (sewn with gusset) launched and sold out immediately. The Furry Sack colors typically coordinate with the monthly Splashes palette. For September, the colors are Pumpkin Spice and Toil & Trouble (purple/lime green combo). The matching Furry Bow clips and Glitter Jelly planner sleeves and pockets are sewn by her sister-in-law.
TEAM SHAMELESS
In addition to family, the Shameless team also includes a special PR Crew of 12 amazing planners/creators. Six members are “veterans” already a part of the team and six are new members. The veterans work together with the new members on planning projects and spreads that inspire each other and the community in so many ways. Their latest obsession with Junk Journaling (and recent Facebook group event hosted by Jeane Frizzell) is really lighting a creative spark in the community and motivating others to try new ways of planning and memory keeping.
